SHARING BEST-PRACTICES

Research and innovations discovered and developed at Perley Health Centre of Excellence in Frailty-Informed Care will be shared to improve the skills of long-term care providers today and educate post-secondary students; who will care for future generations of Seniors.

• During the pandemic, Perley Health helped to train over 650 Nurses, Personal Support Works and Allied Health professionals to enhance care at other long-term care facilities.
• Perley Health partnered with Algonquin College to establish a “Living Classroom” for Algonquin’s Personal Support Worker Training Program. Students access a variety of learning environments, along with clinical and community settings and interact regularly with Perley Health residents, families, tenants, staff and volunteers.
• In 2022, Perley Health welcomed 90 Personal Support Worker students, its largest-ever cohort into its living classroom. Many more PSW students will participate in other settings.
• Perley Health’s Interprofessional Clinic is a partnership with the University of Ottawa Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Ottawa Health Services, providing evidence-based rehabilitation services to the community and offering students an interprofessional clinical experience through our model of interprofessional collaboration.
• Canada’s Long Term Sector has been slow to adopt best practices, averaging more than a decade. Perley Health’s Knowledge Translation Hub is a platform capable of sharing expertise and best practices faster and further.
• Perley Health is a Best Practice Spotlight Organization®, recognized by the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario and a member of the North American Seniors Quality Leap Initiative.
